As a signatory of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), Tenet promotes gender equality and the empowerment of women in the workplace, the marketplace, and the community.
Established by UN Women and the United Nations Global Compact, the WEPs are based on international human rights and labor standards. They recognize that businesses have an interest in and a responsibility to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment.
The WEPs serve as a key vehicle for corporate implementation of the gender equality dimensions of the 2030 Agenda and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. By joining the WEPs community, Tenet Consultores—like other signatory companies—demonstrates its commitment to these principles at the highest levels of the company. This commitment is reflected in the promotion of business practices that empower women, including equal pay for work of equal value, gender-responsive supply chain practices, and zero tolerance for sexual harassment in the workplace.
In 1995, the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action marked a milestone in the fight for gender equality, establishing a roadmap with clear commitments for governments and society as a whole. Now, 30 years after its adoption, it is crucial to remember that no country has yet fully achieved gender equality. While progress has been significant, it remains insufficient, and more extraordinary efforts are needed to ensure that the rights of women and girls become a reality in all areas of society.
Globally, women continue to face structural inequalities in multiple areas: access to education and employment, political representation, economic security, and protection against gender-based violence. The health and financial crises of recent years have exacerbated many of these disparities, making it even more urgent to implement effective policies and actions that drive equity.
“Awareness of gender equality issues is increasing, and not just as an act of solidarity toward an underprotected gender, but rather as a key factor for business development, as the UN promotes through its Women’s Empowerment Principles,” said Rocío Robles, partner at Tenet Consultores, in an interview.
At Tenet, we strive to empower future generations of women, empowering them to go further and break down barriers that persist in the professional and business world.
